In this sermon, Pastor Bohr discusses how the Bible is the all-penetrating sword of the all-knowing Spirit that examines us in the deepest recesses of our lives. We can either choose to let that sword be used by God to reveal sin and to cut it out of our lives or we can choose to ignore salvation and be slain by that sword in the end. Pastor Bohr reveals a fascinating link connecting the salvation symbols of the robe worn by Christ as High Priest in His work for us in heaven; of His eyes being like flames of fire; and of the sword depicted as coming from His mouth, as found in Revelation 1, with the same symbols used of Him in Revelation 19, only this time in the role of a King executing judgment on His enemies when He comes again. The symbols in Revelation 1 are designed to wake us up and come to Jesus for redemption, while those same symbols are used at the end of the book of Revelation to judge and punish the sinner who does not accept that salvation.

Pastor Bohr also shows a similar comparison in Jesus' symbolic words about either falling on Him, the Rock, and being broken for the work of salvation, or ignoring the gospel and having the Rock crush us to powder in the end, as well as in John the Baptist's words in pleading for his listeners to be purified from sin by the Spirit's fire lest they be burned by that fire in the end. This sermon shows just how vital it is to read the Word with a humble, open and willing heart and not to let the Bible gather dust on the shelf while we occupy our time with things of the world that do us no real good. As David prayed in Psalm 139 for God to search him and know his heart, so we need the Spirit, searching us through the Bible and prayer, in order to see our true condition and to come to Jesus for the healing remedy for sin. Satan keeps us from the Word too often and that is when sin becomes less and less objectionable in our lives.

"For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edge sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow, it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of Him to Whom we must give account" (Heb. 4:12-13 NIV).
