This series held at the Secrets Unsealed Summit, opens up prophecies given in the book of Revelation in a way that leaves one marveling at how very close we are to the end of time. You will see how the Seventh-day Adventist message is the powerful antidote given by God to correct the evolutionary and ecumenical belief systems sweeping into modern Christianity and the whole world. The meaning of the Sabbath and the Second Advent of Christ springs to life in these presentations. You will also learn solid principles for proper Bible interpretation that will keep you from falling into error. You will be confirmed in your faith that God gave us the distinctive name “Seventh-day Adventist” to lift high as His banner in a world needing the rest, trust, and belief in His supernatural power that this blessed hope offers.

Dr. G. Edward Reid's thrilling presentations portray two ways how we can know for sure that the time for the close of probation and Christ's second coming is "right at the door" (Mt. 24:33). He discusses many rapidly fulfilling signs of the times seen all around us in the spiritual, political, financial and natural world. He combines this with a fascinating study of some quotes, written by early Seventh-day Adventist leaders such as J. N. Andrews and James and Ellen White, that show that God's "great week of time" timeline indicates the world will end about 6,000 years since the fall of man and that the Millennium will be a 1,000 year Sabbath of rest for this earth as a result of sin, after which, God will create a New Earth. This desolated earth "is to be the home of Satan with his evil angels for a thousand years....For six thousand years, Satan's work of rebellion has 'made the earth to tremble'" (GC 659). Thus, we can see by both the signs and the timeline that Jesus' coming is very near and that we must be ready for His ministry to close at any moment in the heavenly sanctuary.

Dr. Reid discusses some important history you will appreciate to know about how the Sabbath was undermined and changed to Sunday. He shares some sobering news items relating to various ways the soon-coming national and worldwide call by Christians for enforcing Sunday observance will most likely come about. "While the Protestant world is by her attitude making concessions to Rome, let us arouse to comprehend the situation and view the contest before us in its true bearings. Let the watchmen now lift up their voice and give the message which is present truth for this time. Let us show the people where we are in prophetic history and seek to arouse the spirit of true Protestantism, awaking the world to a sense of the value of the privileges of religious liberty so long enjoyed" (5T 716).

Our highest goal in life should be preparing for Christ's second coming and Dr. Reid encourages us with several practical and vitally important ways to do this. The doctrine of the second coming is the very keynote of Scripture and those who neglect being ready for Jesus to come will be lost in confused darkness.

Dr. Ron du Preez stresses the importance of interpreting the Bible correctly, using Luke 24:27 as his foundational guide in describing the methods Christ used when discussing prophecy with His disciples. These will keep us from falling into the various errors and extremes we see all around us in the Christian world today and will accomplish more successful witnessing. He applies these methods to a groundbreaking study of Colossians 2:14-17, in showing how this difficult passage is not speaking about the seventh-day Sabbath being done away with, as is claimed by Sunday observers, nor is it speaking about the ceremonial feast laws still being required by God, as is claimed by those in the feast-keeping movement that has spawned even within our own church. He spends a whole lecture explaining in detail why those that are insisting that Seventh-day Adventists must keep the feasts and follow a lunar calendar are misinterpreting Scripture and the writings of Ellen White, and are actually leading away from the Sabbath and other pillars of our faith. It is really a denial of Jesus' Messiahship.

Dr. du Preez shows in his other lectures how love for God must be the driving motive for keeping His Sabbath, as well as for following all of God's commandments. He shows how the very first part of the Ten Commandments, which is seldom quoted, shows how they are Christ and redemption-centered. He shares several practical ways to prepare for and to keep the Sabbath, giving God our very best, which will make it more special, restful and joyful. There are several important reminders here of how we should not enter into God's special day ill-prepared, worn out, or upset with our brothers and sisters in Christ. Dr. du Preez examines various biblical words that describe the Sabbath and explains what it really means to "rest". God promises that His sanctifying presence is in the Sabbath as He calls us to come meet with Him and with our fellow believers for this special, refreshing and restful experience. Spending this time with Him will change our lives. "God has called us to uplift the standard of His downtrodden Sabbath. How important, then, that our example in Sabbathkeeping should be right" (6T 352).

Pastor Stephen Bohr covers the theme of this Summit in his study on the words in Revelation 22:10-13 that "the time is at hand" and those who will be found holy or unholy at that time of the close of probation will continue to remain so until Jesus comes. He studies several other models in Scripture that follow this same pattern which shows that we must be preparing during this gospel time of mercy for the close of probation and the subsequent time of trouble, rather than thinking we have time to get ready right up to Christ's second coming.

In another little-discussed topic, Pastor Bohr clearly unravels the seeming contradiction of why the Bible says the Holy Spirit is the seal of our promised inheritance but Ellen White says that the Sabbath is the seal of sanctification and the sign or mark distinguishing the faithful from those who receive the mark of the beast in the end times. He sheds many enlightening insights on the meaning of the various "seals" listed in the Bible and brings clarity as to how baptism replaced circumcision as the seal of justification by faith. He shows the foolish reasoning of those who say they do not need the sign of the outward Sabbath anymore because "Jesus is my rest".

He also unravels the mysteries of the symbols used in Revelation 10:1-11:1 and shows how this passage prophecies the rise of the Millerite movement in the 1840's and the rise, message, and mission of the Seventh-day Adventist church after the disappointment of 1844. He explains what it means to "measure the temple and its worshipers inside" and how this passage connects with the three angels' messages in chapter 14. You will also learn that the name "Seventh-day Adventist" was Providentially given to our church at the very time when evolutionary and naturalistic theories concerning the origins and ending of our earth were spreading over the world and many Christian scholars were (and still are) succumbing to its influence. We need to unashamedly hold our name high as a banner proclaiming that we believe in a personal God Who, about 6,000 years ago, supernaturally created the world in six literal, consecutive days and then rested on the seventh, and Who will come again soon to rapidly and supernaturally end this world of sin. He will create a new earth for the righteous after the Millennium, rather than the modern scenario of mankind all joining together as one mind to usher in a kind of New Age-style "Omega Point" Millennium of peace and prosperity, as is being taught by a growing number of Christians today who have attempted to synthesize theology and evolutionary "progression".

Pastor Bohr ends by clearly explaining the meaning of Hebrews 12:22-24 with its puzzling phrase "the spirits of just men made perfect" that are said to be in heaven. We need to be able to answer this and other misunderstood texts about the state of the dead, as many of us will have to someday face, not only humans who question our faith, but evil spirits, impersonating the form of departed loved ones, who will try with all their cunning and emotional pull to deceive the very elect.

"Though no man knoweth the day nor the hour of His coming, we are instructed and required to know when it is near. We are further taught that to disregard His warning, and refuse or neglect to know when His advent is near, will be as fatal for us as it was for those who lived in the days of Noah not to know when the flood was coming" (GC 371).
